Welcome to the enchanting world of two ants, Misti and Meethi. The narrative delves into themes of friendship, care, and compassion. In this short story, witness the profound lesson that winter taught to a lazy ant. # Story of Companionship

Once upon a time, in a small hole, two ants named Misti and Meethi dwelled. A deep and close friendship blossomed between them. Misti was very hardworking; on the contrary, Meethi was very lazy. Misti diligently completed her tasks on time, while Meethi consistently procrastinated, always leaving today’s work for tomorrow. Their differing natures often led to arguments between the two.

With winter days approaching, Misti grew concerned about food. She said to Meethi, “Oh Meethi! Let’s go in search of food. The cold is coming; snow will fall in a few days, and then we won’t be able to leave the house. I can’t even walk in the snow. So, it would be better if we replenish our grain reserves now.”

Meethi drawled lazily, “You seem to be in a perpetual rush to accomplish everything. There are still at least two months remaining before winter graces us. Why the urgency in searching for food?

Misti elucidated for Meethi, saying, “Finding food might not be easy; we’ll need to go on a journey to get it. Maybe, during our travels, we’ll discover some nourishment.”

“Not today; I’ll go another day. If you wish to go, you can go. Today, my desire is to luxuriate in the embrace of my soft bed, indulging in a peaceful day of slumber.”

Meethi drifted into serene slumber, while Misty embarked on a tireless quest for sustenance. Days melted away as Misti tirelessly roamed in search of food, and finally, triumph greeted her. One day, her gaze serendipitously discovered a hidden treasure of sugar. Overjoyed, she danced with delight and began the gradual accumulation of the sweet prize of hardwork in her abode. Each passing day, she would say Meethi, “Meethi, I’ve found a treasure trove of sugar; why not gather some nourishment for yourself as well?”

Meethi replied in a rather disinterested manner, “Not today, maybe some other time. I’m not in the mood at the moment, and there are still plenty of days before winter arrives.”

As the cold season arrived, Meethi went out in search of sustenance. She went from door to door, but couldn’t find any food. Because it was so cold, she was afraid to keep searching. When she didn’t find even a bit of food, she sadly went back home. On her way back, it started snowing, and her feet got hurt. She reached home with difficulty, injured, and fainted at the door. Misti got scared seeing Meethi unconscious. Somehow, she brought Meethi inside, made her lie down on a warm blanket, and quickly lit the fire. Due to the warmth, Meethi opened her eyes after some time. With teary eyes, she said to Misty, “Now my life is in your hands, my dear friend. Only you can help me in this tough time, please have mercy on me, Misty. From today, I won’t delay my work for tomorrow. I will stay and finish everything on time. You were right when you said my laziness could harm me. Today, I was saved from dying; if you weren’t there, I might not have survived.” Saying this, Meethi started crying loudly.

Misti felt profound pity upon seeing Meethi’s condition. Throughout those days, she took great care of her, even sharing her own food with Meethi. Meethi spent the entire winter sustained by the food collected by Misty. This experience taught her a valuable lesson. Consequently, she joined Misty in the search for food before the next winter arrived.
